I-612 Application for Waiver of the Foreign Residence Requirement of Section 212(e) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended

Purpose of Form:

For certain exchange workers (J-1 and J-2 visas) and their families to apply for a waiver of the requirement that they reside outside the United States for at least two years prior to returning or leaving the United States.

Where to File:

If you are in the United States, submit the application to the Service Center with jurisdiction over your place of residence.

If you are not in the United States, submit the application to the Service Center with jurisdiction over the place of your last residence in the United States.
